Main Street manages over $6 billion of capital, through our NYSE listed public platform and multiple funds. Our investments are typically made to support management buyouts, recapitalizations, growth financings, refinancings and acquisitions of companies that operate in diverse industry sectors. Main Street seeks to partner with entrepreneurs, business owners, and management teams, and generally provides “one-stop” financing solutions within its lower middle market strategy. Main Street’s lower middle market strategy is primarily focused on companies with revenue between $10 million to $150 million and EBITDA between $3 million to $20 million. The typical investment size ranges from $5 million to $75 million, with the ability to syndicate larger transactions.
Why do prospects want to do business with the firm?
We provide flexible and long-term capital through customizable equity and debt investments. Additionally, as a publicly traded investment firm (NYSE: MAIN), we are not required to return our investors’ capital by a specific date, as is typical of most institutional funds. This allows us the flexibility to function as a long-term partner in during period of economic growth and during challenging market cycles. We approach each investment with a long-term view. Our team structures investments to meet the needs of our portfolio companies and their owners. We are comfortable making majority and minority equity investments depending on the nature and capital requirements of the transaction. Regardless of equity ownership, we aim to structure financial partnerships that align our interests with those of the business, allowing management to maintain significant operational and strategic control.
Why do intermediaries present opportunities and want to conduct transactions with the firm?
We provide a flexible one-stop shop capital solutions allow us to provide all of the third-party equity and debt capital necessary to meet a company’s needs. When we issue a term sheet or letter of intent, there are no financing contingencies or uncertainties other than completing our diligence and legal documentation. Due to our model, we can close transactions through efficient execution because all investment approvals maintained by Main Street’s 3 person investment committee.
