SJ Partners LLC (SJP) is an award-winning private equity firm that acquires middle-market consumer and services companies. The firm is distinguished by its operating perspective and buy and build success (our customer engagement portfolio company grew 12x, driven by 14 add-ons). We are proud of our roster of operating partners who have either been Fortune 500 divisional CEOs or private equity portfolio company CEOs. SJP targets companies with $2 – 10 million in EBITDA (and larger on occasion) that either are traditional growth situations or are under-managed companies where the experience of our operating partners can significantly accelerate growth.
Why do prospects want to do business with the firm?
Prospects want to work with SJ Partners because of our history of working directly with business owners and having the flexibility of family office capital. Having done many proprietary deals, we appreciate how to develop direct relationships. Our operating partners help (who often source proprietary deals) us also develop these relationships and then maximize the potential of our portfolio companies.
Why do intermediaries present opportunities and want to conduct transactions with the firm?
They know we like to under-promise and overdeliver. They know and see that we have deep relationships with lenders so can put together financing expeditiously (e.g. we just closed a financing where one of the lenders we have done multiple transactions including the first one back 14 years ago). As consumer and service specialists, we also require less education than a generalist which intermediaries appreciate too. We lastly actively consider companies with hair and like to acquire during hairy times be in 2009 or now when we are looking at many add-ons despite (because really!) others are on the sidelines.
