The abrdn US Private Equity program has been investing in small-cap buyouts since 1995. Over that period, the group as committed $2.8B to more than 150 funds and over 75 co-investments. In late 2020, abrdn raised $501M for its ninth US commingled private equity fund.
The program has a long history of supporting GPs in their debut/early institutional fundraises, many of whom have gone on to become well known larger cap firms. Additionally, the program has a deep track record of successful co-investment with both traditional GPs and independent sponsors.
The senior investment team has over 100 years of private equity investment experience and has been purpose built around multiple individuals with direct investment experience.

The abrdn US Private Equity program is one of the longest tenured investors in the US lower middle market having consistently raised investment vehicles for 20+ years. The team executes on a specialized small-cap strategy across co-investments, secondaries, and primaries. In 2020, the program raised its ninth fund in record time, securing capital commitments in excess of the fund’s hard-cap just three months after launching the fundraise. Limited partners in the abrdn US Private Equity program include well known endowments, family offices, financial institutions, non-profits, and public and private pension plans.
